Spiderman has gone by many different tag lines, but the new movie 'The Amazing Spider-Man' may have a lot to live up to.
People up until now have been skeptical over the forthcoming reboot of the Tobey Maguire, but by the looks of the trailer, the movie will be able to stand up against the previous trilogy. From the first teaser trailer it looks like this version of the character will be told in a more serious, darker tone. Almost taking it's influence from Christopher Nolan and his re-telling of the Batman world.
Spiderman 2 has always been the personal favourite of all three, with the first of the trilogy not that far behind. The third and final one was a huge disappointment with too much crammed into it, and the over crowding of villains. Until the reboot was announced, it was hard to imagine the Spiderman series being remade into a new film series.
Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker looks more like the scrawny, odd teenager that people are familiar with during the very early stages of Peter's Spiderman days. But it remains to be seen how he will pull off the other half of his character. And that being the webslinger himself. Tobey Maguire made Peter Parker his own, making him an awkward and nervous character who is a completely different persona whilst under the mask. One criticism that can be said about Raimi's version of the webbed one is that there was a lack of his wise cracking, smart mouthed hero who cracks jokes to wind up his opponents during his battles.

Granted, the teaser trailer doesn't show much of the action from the film, but it touches heavily on the emotional aspects of Peter Parker's tragic experiences that prompt to take up his superhero responsibilities. But surely, with more scenes and trailers, the action will be able to challenge the former trilogy as a legit contender for the best big screen interpretation of Spiderman.
Whether it lives up to the name of 'Amazing' remains to be seen.
